We have appointed Nathanael Mooney as our new senior coach for the next two Wagga Cricket seasons.
Mooney last played for Kooringal in the 2021-22 season and he returns to the Colts after a couple of years away living in Canberra.
A talented junior growing up, Mooney in the years before his departure also represented Riverina and Wagga Sloggers.
Mooney will take over the role from Keenan Hanigan and he said it was a privilege to be leading the Colts in what is a milestone year for the club.
"We've got the 40th year so to come back, get the question and the tap on the shoulder to take it up I'm pretty privileged," Mooney said.
"It's a club that has given so much to me over the past few years and coming back after a few years away is going to be interesting, but I'm really looking forward to it."
Mooney revealed he doesn't have much prior experience as a cricket coach however said that he has coached in the past.
"I've done a little bit here and there with rugby in juniors," he said.
"But the best way to learn is to be in the job and doing it.
"I'm looking forward to the challenges, successes and learning's from the season."

While results on the field didn’t always go our way with our 1st and 2nd grade sides, with only a few wins recorded, the team showed plenty of fight and commitment every week. We welcomed a number of new faces into the club this season, adding fresh energy and enthusiasm. The foundations are being laid for stronger performances in the seasons ahead.
It was a fantastic season for our 3rd Grade teams, with all three sides qualifying for the finals. One team came agonisingly close to a grand final appearance, just falling short at the final hurdle. A highlight of the year was the contribution of our two teams with strong Indian representation, proudly reflecting the club’s multicultural spirit and values. The success and diversity in our lower grades show the strength and inclusiveness of our cricket community.
Our junior program continues to go from strength to strength, with six teams representing the club this past season: two Under 10s, plus sides in the Under 11s, 12s, 14s, and 16s.
The Under 10s and 11s played in non-competitive formats, but showed terrific development and improvement as the season went on. The Under 12s had an excellent year, making it through to the grand final before falling short against a strong opponent. Our Under 14s were the standout side of the competition during the regular season but unfortunately missed out on a grand final berth. The Under 16s gave their all every week and were highly competitive, only narrowly missing a spot in the finals.
Overall, it was an encouraging season across the grades, with plenty of talent emerging and great signs for the future of the club.

Kooringal Colts Cricket Club was established in 1985 and since then has become one of the most successful and respected clubs in the Wagga District Cricket Association, having won eleven First Grade premierships, multiple lower grade premierships and eight Wagga Wagga District Cricket Association Club Championships, with the most recent being the 2017/18 season. The Club also has a strong junior base, catering for boys and girls from age 5 through to age 17. Additionally, the Club has worked hard to establish a home base at Harris Park and has worked tirelessly to ensure that it is viewed as a family friendly and community focussed sporting club. In recognition of this, the Club was awarded the Cricket NSW Community Club of the Year in 2018. This coming season, the Club will field teams across all senior grades and junior age groups, in addition to running the very popular Woolworths Blast and Master Blaster programmes.

Congratulations to our newest LIFE MEMBER, DAVID BENN
Last season at the Kooringal Colts Inaugural Ball held at the MTC, the club welcomed and inducted Dave as a life member of our club. A wonderful night and special moment to recognize Dave for his accomplishments and contribution to our wonderful club.
Here is the speech that introduced and inducted Dave into Life Membership by our Club President Katie Davis -
Over the past almost 4 decades, Kooringal Colts has had many hundred players pull on the royal blue, white and yellow. Being part of the Colts evokes LOYALTY, PASSION but most of all it evokes CAMARADERIE, DEVOTION and COMMITMENT!
It is a very special night tonight for our wonderful club. Although commonly presented at our Clubs presentation night at the conclusion of our season, and for the first time since the 2018/19 season, this brilliant club will award Life Membership to a very special man that was present on the very early years of Colts formation and still actively present to this day. This life membership is the 15th in the 37 year history of the club, and I am very privileged to say that this inductee could not be more deserving.
He is someone who has made a significant mark both on and off the field and although extremely humble of his contribution and accomplishments, I am fortunate to be part of this incredible moment by acknowledging and recognizing them tonight.
Tonight, I ask you to stand and raise your glasses to a person who encapsulates everything that Life Membership of this club is about, and shortly you will hear of his achievements both on and off the field, but for now, it is my absolute honour and privilege, alongside life member Graham Gorrel to present and induct David Benn as a Life Member of the Kooringal Colts Cricket Club.
Congratulations Dave

Congratulations To our newest Life Member Adam Shephard. Adam has been playing for the club for 23 years and has been involved as an administrator for over 14 years of that time. He was awarded this at our 2018/19 season presentation night. He is pictured here with his wife Melissa
